~This Review May Contain Spoilers~

Alan and Samantha have been best friends since they were 5 years old.

The story begins when they are both 20 years old, the present, they are in a major car accident.
When Alan finds himself waking up to the news of Sam suffering major devastating, life changing injuries.

The story flips back and forth between different ages as they grew up, from first meetings at age 5 to childhood tragedies to teenage years. You see the story unfold to what has brought them to the place they are at today. You read about the things that have made them so close through all the years. The rely each other and find comfort within each other every day. They share so many memories both the good and the bad.

This is one where having tissues near would be a good idea. Usually the back and forth between present and past can be awkward to read, but this one was written to perfection making sure you understood what was happening as it flipped back to their childhood and teenage years. It was almost necessary for the story to do so. You got to experience their lives and what has bonded them together so tightly. Loved that this was solely a male POV, nice change of pace.

This story is heartwarming even though at times it became heartbreaking. It makes you stop and think about how one thing can change your world forever.

This story was amazing for so many reasons and one that I know will go into my reread folder because it makes you stop and think about life. It reminds that things can change in the blink of an eye. Not everything is perfect but it is what you make of the situation that counts. The characters in this story are lovable and Sam's strength is inspiring. The love Alan has for her is unbelievable and heartwarming.

Character Interview~ Remember Ethan Mr. Wild Story Teller?
Here are a few inside questions from the author on his character...

Where did you get the ideas for the stories you told Alan and Sam?

You know I honestly don't remember.  Usually I just thought them up as I went along, or I'd repeat something I heard on T.V. earlier.  After I grew up, and Alan chastised me, I started telling different stories.  These weren't made-up, they're 100% real.  Though I might have embellished a little.
*Mischievous grin*

What made Lauren different for the other women you're usually interested in?

Lauren is special.  I can't explain it all that well but I'll try…  You ever just look at someone and know that you were meant for them?  It's like everything clicks, the clock pieces match.  I knew things were meant to be the moment she glared at me and told me to clean the files room by myself the very first day we met.  Weird and totally not the best first meeting, but it was like magic.  Can't explain it better than that.  It was magic.

What did you think of Alan and Sam's relationship as you were growing up?

Oh man, they were weird.  Always together and yet never together.  I had a hard time at first, seeing them together like that.  You know I had a little crush on Sam back then.  It wasn't until I got to know the two of them better that I started understanding them.  They were pretty co-dependent of each other for a while, but when you're young you don't realize that stuff.  I just knew that Sam needed Alan and Alan needed Sam.  Sam is a free spirit and Alan grounds her.  I needed no other explanation than that.

Where were you when you got the call after the accident?  What were the thoughts going through your head?

Let me tell you it was not a pretty picture.  I was working late, real late, when the phone rang.  Mrs. Green called me and I rushed over as soon as I could.  Of course Quentin and Ari were there already, let me tell you that was shocker; those two.  We all had a good cry right there in the waiting room.  Alan and Sam have touched us all.  Life would definitely be less exciting without them in it.
